Nieuw Zuid

Realization of a student accommodation. Realization of 3 housing blocks.

The specific relation between each unit and its “panorama” is most important in the master plan by SECCHI & VIGANO.
Through a reinterpretation, we make optimal use of the qualities of the site and have formulated an appropriate answer to the given context.

Client : Triple Living. Woonhaven.

The student residence building has in total 147 rooms for students. The building has an L-shape and the two arms have different depths to make different room typologies possible. Collective functions like kitchens are recognizable in the facade by the large glass openings.

The 3 appartement buildings have been developed with panoramas overlooking the Park with a southern orientation, to the Schelde with a western orientation or to overlook the two connecting “woonerven” with a western orientation. These houses are made within a restricted economic context. The project consists of 96 houses with 35 different typologies that support a social mix and diversity. Technically the whole site of Nieuw Zuid and this project are CO2 neutral.
