By placing 4 buildings inside a mega block, we can create central green open space and a new square that complete the existing network of public open space.
The buildings, that finish the building blocks and create gateways to the green area, have an optimal south or west orientation, which is very important in the context of the intended passive construction.

The central green space is conceived as a common public space that feeds into the Neerstalsesteenweg, the new Olieslagerijsquare and the Waterstraat, giving access to the centre which is inaccessible today.
This central area exists of three zones: a public ecological garden, semi-public allotments and a public esplanade with trees for slow traffic.

The problematic water management of the site site becomes a conceptual and landscape element: the public ecological garden with scenic water buffer and wadis at the lowest points of the site.
